Children’s Traffic Park
In the Children’s Traffic Park, small children can practice traffic rules in safe environment, steering a pedal car. The park includes a modest cafeteria and restrooms. The nearby public playground is in free use.

Three-wheelers and cars with parent handles are for free. In evening, the park is available for small bikers – following the traffic rules and good manners, of course.

Pump Track Course of Jämsä
The longest pumptrack course of Finland is found in the centre of Jämsä, right accross the road from the Children's Traffic Park. The track is open from spring to late autumn and in free use for all speed addicts and recreation lovers, regardless of their age. The track offers good ballancing excercises with bikes, BMX, scooters, scateboards, roller skaters etc. Helmets and knee pads are recommended.

Himos Holiday Resort
In winter, Himos Holiday Resort offers a huge slide and free bunny slopes where children can train their skiing skills. Besides, under 7-year-olds can ski with an adult for free on any slopes as long as they wear a helmet. The ski school of Werner gives safe skiing and snowboarding education with professional skiing instructors. On high tourism season, Himos Ski Resort offers versatile activities and events for children.
In summer, you can play disk golf, hike and walk on the forests paths, cycle, paddle, row, and make fishing trips.
Swimming Hall Koskikara / Uimahalli Koskikara
A pleasant indoor swimming hall with a therapy pool, whirlpool, kids’ pool, saunas, gym, and a cafeteria. Outdoors there is a swimming beach and a children's playground with a Moomin Valley theme.

Toy Museum Helminauha
A toy collection with around 5,000 items from the beginning of 19th century and up to this day.
In this unique museum, you can see toys which Finnish children have loved and played with, children’s clothing, old houseware, and a stage with stage costumes which you can try on. The toy museum even includes a Horror Chamber, where you can peak at a family with freaks and ghosts – if you dare, of course. The museum also includes an exhibition of Finnish ceramic items from famous Arabia designers.
Open: in July Tue-Sun 12-16. On May-August only for groups and foreign families by request.

Animal Zoos and Farms
Hirvikartanon Hirvitarha / Moose Manor’s Zoo
This interesting restaurant serves delicious Finnish game food, but it has also a farm with real living moose, fallow deer, and reindeers. The most inquisitive moose are so brave that you might even get a kiss! The farm is located within only 10 km from the Himos Holiday Resort.
Open during the high tourist seasons on Tue-Sat. 12:00-18:00.

Kotieläinpiha Nurmolandia / Domestic Animal Park
On the Domestic Animal Park of Nurmolandia you can have an nice moment with horses, ponies, goats, sheeps, chickens, and other pets. The farm organizes horseback and pony riding, courses of taking care of animals, and versatile farm activites for children and adults. The company also offers professional home care and short term childcare services for families.

At local stables, the children can see horses or go on a horseback ride by prior booking. Occasionally, the stables organize children’s pony rides and horseback riding in events.

You can find more activities for children within an hours drive from Jämsä. There is a Moomin Museum and Särkänniemi amusement park at Tampere, and a HopLop indoor activity centre at Jyväskylä, for instance. The Serlachius art museums in the art town of Mänttä-Vilppula are also worthwhile to visit, especially the Gustaf museum, where children can feel free to touch the items.

The playground is located on the shore of Lake Kuikkajärvi, in the cottage area of Western Himos.

The recreational park of Jaatila is located in the vicinity of recreational trails of Pukinvuori.
Besides children’s playground, the area consists of a skate ramp, tennis court, and a football field.
