Jämsä is located in the Province of Central Finland, on the western cost of Lake Päijänne, close to the biggest cities of Southern Finland.
Jämsä has good transport connections. The road traffic from Jyväskylä, Tampere, and Lahti meet at Jämsä, on the cross-roads of highways 9 and 24.
You can easyly to come to Jämsä by public transportation. All the trains between Tampere and Jyväskylä stop at the Jämsä railway station. There are plenty of train and bus connections to both directions on daily basis. The railway station is located on the west edge of the city centre, and the bus station is located in the core centre, just one kilometre apart.
The nearest international airports are in Tampere, at Pirkkala, and in Jyväskylä, at Tikkakoski. The distance between Jämsä and Pirkkala is approximately 110 km and Tikkakoski about 80 km. Halli airfield is located 25 km from Jämsä centre. Private jets can also land at Halli airfield, in Jämsä. By request, private helicopters can land also at Himos. There is a train connection from the international airport of Helsinki-Vantaa to Jämsä via Tampere.
In summer, it is also possible to order a cruise or come to Jämsä by a boat on Lake Päijänne.

Railway Station of Jämsä
The taxi station is located in the centre of Jämsä and besides the bus station. It is advisable to order a taxi well advance, especially during holidays and tourist season.
